Mercury vapor is
collected by a thin ultra high-purity layer of gold.
The gold is digested overnight with a mixture of
concentrated acids. Then an analysis of
elemental mercury is performed by cold vapor atomic
absorption (CVAA).
Each badge
comes with a particle screen to prevent particles
containing mercury from entering the sampler during
monitoring and causing a high biased result.
The screen must be removed immediately after the
monitoring is complete.
